Community Care Conversation Hour (10/7)

This past Wednesday we had our first conversation hour about our past visit and future visits to Casa Ana Caroline.

We spent most of the class coming up with ideas about what to do in future visits, specifically ways that we can help motivate the kids to read and learn how to read and write (since many of the younger children struggle with that).

The students decided that they would ask for donations of children's books in their classes and collect them to bring to the orphanage.

Some ideas for activities to do with the children included:
Reading with them (showing them pictures and the words and encouraging them to try to read)
Playing the guitar and singing songs with them (having lyrics printed to practice reading)
Arts and Crafts (students will bring/donate art supplies)
Skits (students will prepare skits to stories in the children's books to encourage reading because it will be so fun!)

Games/Brincadeiras:
Batata Quente (Hot Potato)
Morto/Vivo
Luz Vermelho/Luz Verde
Queimada (Dodgeball)
Musical Chairs

Things to collect to bring to the orphanage:
Children's books (livros para crianças)
Paper (papel)
Crayons (giz de cera)
Modeling clay (massa de modelar)
paint (tinta)
paintbrushes (pincéis)
jump-ropes (corda para pular)
elastic bands (elástico para brincar)
