Conversation Hour (02/07)

Yesterday in conversation hour students practiced dialogues that could happen in a restaurant. First, everyone read the menu that I provided and circled new vocabulary. They did the same with a dialogue.

New Vocabulary:
Cucumber
Ranch dressing (molho para salada)
Beef patty
French fries
Tortillas
Pepperoni
Rare vs. Well-done  > cozido pouco vs. cozido muito

After reviewing the new vocabulary, students practiced reading through the dialogues in pairs and took turns being the waiter/waitress. Then pairs wrote their own dialogues and practiced. At the end of class all of the students came to the front of the class to pretend that they were in a real restaurant ordering or serving food. They got very creative and we had a lot of laughs! One student (customer) complained to the waitress that his hamburger wasn't done so the waitress took the hamburger and pretended to spit on it. When she brought it back, the customer said "mmmmmm" and everyone laughed! After class there were some students outside who said that it sounded like we were having so much fun in class that they wanted to come join us! It was a really fun class because the students were very creative and willing to get up in front of the class. Thanks everyone! :)
